Everything you need to know about accessing support, referring others, donating food, and volunteering with the LGM Food Bank.
The LGM Food Bank is open to anyone experiencing food insecurity or financial hardship, regardless of background, faith, or ethnicity. We serve families and individuals across West Yorkshire. You do not need to be a Muslim or a member of the mosque to receive support. Self-referrals are accepted, and referrals from partner organisations such as schools, GPs, and social services are also welcome.
If you are a professional working with someone who needs support — such as a teacher, social worker, or GP — you can make a referral by contacting us directly via our contact form or by phone. We work with a wide network of partner organisations and aim to process referrals quickly. Please include the individual's or family's situation and any dietary or cultural requirements.
We gratefully accept donations of non-perishable food items at the mosque during opening hours. Items in high demand include tinned goods, rice, pasta, cooking oil, lentils, and long-life milk. Please ensure all donated items are within their use-by date. Financial donations are also welcomed and can be made via our website — monetary donations allow us to purchase exactly what is needed.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. To get involved, simply contact us via our contact form or speak to a member of staff at the mosque. Volunteers help with sorting food donations, packing parcels, and supporting distribution on Wednesdays. No prior experience is needed — we will provide full guidance. Regular volunteering slots are available weekly and we also welcome one-off volunteers for special events.
Whether you donate, volunteer, or spread the word — every act of generosity makes a real difference to families across West Yorkshire.
